I remember back when pagers were “cool”, a whole pager language rose out of nowhere. (I was pretty much a pager language pro.) That was only 10 years ago, and that language is totally insignifcant now. Cell phones killed the pagers. Here is a story from 10 years ago on pager language. Today, we have IM language, text messaging language, and who knows what else? Will all this be irrelevant in 10 years? Probably. What will kill text messaging? Something…soon.

What if text messaging died because people were suddenly where they actually were. It is a strange feeling to have someone right next to you, but they are not really there. It’s almost like the avatar is actual and controlling all the autonomic functions of the shell of the person who is next to me (sort of)…
