I’m not sure how to feel about this (see pic below). I mean, getting search rankings in Google is hard enough without competing with Google.com itself…do you have any comments/thoughts on this?

If Google was an open source project and didn’t _need_ to make money to keep their shareholders happy we would probably never see this happen.
Not to fear, it’s the beauty of America, there is always the next best thing around the corner. I remember a day when I was convinced that nothing would be better than AltaVista.
