J Paul Getty Quotes

August 21st, 2007 · No Comments

In a few weeks my girlfriend and I are going to visit the Getty Villa in Malibu. I’ve been to the Museum, but never the Villa - so I’m excited to see it. If you have never been to the Getty Museum, you should really pay a visit the next time you are in the LA area. Even if you’re not an art buff, the architecture and views are absolutely spectacular!

An interesting note about J Paul Getty: Getty wrote a very successful book entitled How to be Rich. Note that it was not “How to get Rich.” His oil business was handed to him by his father, who started the business. Getty fully acknowledges this in his autobiography, “I enjoyed the advantage of being born into an already-wealthy family, and when I began my business career I was subsidized by my father. While I did make money-and quite a bit of it-on my own, I doubt if there would be a ‘Getty Empire’ today if I had not taken over my father’s thriving oil business after his death. (Getty, 1976, pg.336).” source

I was doing a little research on J Paul Getty today, and thought I’d post some of his famous quotes (below).
