iPhone Rate Plans

June 26th, 2007 · No Comments

Considering the Apple iPhone? I just checked out the iPhone rate plans…

All iPhone monthly service plans are available for individuals and families and are based on a new two-year service agreement with AT&T. Individual plans are priced at $59.99 for 450 minutes, $79.99 for 900 minutes and $99.99 for 1,350 minutes. All plans include unlimited data (email and web), Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages, roll over minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile and a one-time activation fee of $36. Family plans are also available.

The actual iPhone will cost $499 or $599 for the 4gb & 8gb models…so lets say you buy the 4gb version for $499. If you were to select the $79.99 rate plan on a 24 month contract, you can figure another $20 or so per month to cover the cost of the iPhone itself. ($499/24 months)

So…4gb iPhone + 900 minute rate plan over 24 months = $99 per month. That really doesn’t seem that expensive if you spread out the cost of the phone over 24 months.
I wonder what % or $ of the rate plan is already subsidizing the cost of the iPhone? Anyone know?
