If you’ve got a bunch of rooms in your house/apartment (I’ve got basically 3 rooms and 3 TV’s) and like to have the option of TV in each room, but hate paying for additional cable/satellite boxes, check out what I’ve figured out for my place:
- Get one of these distribution amplifiers, and hook it up to the outgoing signal from your cable box. When you use one of these signal amps each TV will receive the same quality signal vs. using a splitter that reduces quality.
- Hook up all your tvs to this amp using some long rca’s or wireless if you have to. (for me, wired is cheaper, easier, and less hassle - but not do-able for all situations of course…especially if you don’t like to drill holes in walls etc..)
- Get a remote extender that converts your infared remote into a radio remote, so your remote can shoot through walls and work all over the place (control a cable box 2 rooms away)
That’s pretty much it! All your TV’s will run off the same box (box could mean: cable, dvd, satellite, or whatever) and the only downside is not being able to watch different programs in 2 different rooms at the same time. You can also run your computer this way, and hook up a signal out going to all screens if you want to completely eliminate the cable bill and just watch computer programming, itunes, dvds, etc…..but I don’t feel like we are quite ready for that, yet. ![]()
