Shrek The Third

May 20th, 2007 · No Comments

Shrek is a money making machine! I think the appeal of the movie is simple: it appeals to everyone. Young, old, black, white, American, European, it doesn’t seem to matter. Shrek must be setting even more records now. Watch for Shrek 4 next summer…

Affiliate Commissions on Real Estate

May 19th, 2007 · No Comments

Why don’t websites like ZipRealty.com and Redfin.com cut affiliates in on the home sales commissions? (rather than just pay on leads or whatever, as many real estate affiliate programs do) If an affiliate could make even 0.25% on the sale, that could be thousands of dollars on many home sales. ($1,250 on a $500k home) [...]

One Reason Shopping Online Is Awesome

May 18th, 2007 · 1 Comment

No checkout lines. I abandoned a shopping cart half-full of stuff earlier today at a “real” store because the lines were so ridiculous. Seriously, it was ridiculous. That does not happen online…true, online checkouts can have their problems, but at least there is no time wasted standing in line.

Technology Brings New Languages

May 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I remember back when pagers were “cool”, a whole pager language rose out of nowhere. (I was pretty much a pager language pro.) That was only 10 years ago, and that language is totally insignifcant now. Cell phones killed the pagers. Here is a story from 10 years ago on pager language. Today, we have [...]

Unlimited Yahoo Mail Storage

May 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Good move, Yahoo. I’ve been a loyal Gmail user for close to 3 years now (if I remember that correctly) and I really hope Google matches Yahoo on this one soon…if not, maybe I’ll give Yahoo a try. Isn’t it nice how competition works?

Baby Name SEO

May 10th, 2007 · No Comments

Some expecting mothers are making sure they select a name for their baby that is uncommon in Google…is this baby naming SEO? Here’s a thought: wouldn’t it be safer for your child to have a more common name? (more difficult for weirdos to Google them)

Wal-Mart’s Worst Sales in 28 Years

May 10th, 2007 · 6 Comments

The world’s most powerful company is in a funk. Wal-Mart said April sales were down 3.5%. Analysts expected a 1.1% drop. It’s not just Wal-Mart though…so watch out. Record gas prices this summer might just bring more havoc, unless of course you’re getting 40 or 55 mpg.
